The Deputy Governor, Edo State, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa has urged Nigerians to renew their faith in the country and commit to building a stronger, united, and prosperous nation.
Rt. Hon. Idahosa made the call in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Friday Aghedo, to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary.
He described First of October as a reminder of the courage and sacrifices of the generation that secured Nigeria’s independence in 1960.
The deputy governor said Nigeria had demonstrated remarkable resilience despite its challenges, adding that its greatest strength remained its people and diversity.
He urged Nigerians to recommit to the ideals of unity, peace, justice, democracy and shared prosperity.
Rt. Hon. Idahosa commended President Bola Tinubu for efforts to reposition the economy and strengthen the foundation for sustainable development, assuring that sub-national governments would continue to support the national development agenda.
He also reaffirmed the commitment of the Gov. Monday Okpebholo-led administration to improving lives in Edo through investments in security, infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and human capital development.
