The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested twelve suspects, including eight suspected kidnappers and four alleged informants, during security operations in Millennium City and Maraban Rido communities in Chikun Local Government Area.
The police also recovered AK-47 rifles during the operations, which were conducted in collaboration with other security agencies.
The command’s spokesperson, Mansir Hassan, said preliminary investigations indicated that two of the suspects allegedly leaked information about police operations to criminal groups, undermining security efforts and endangering residents and security personnel.
He said investigations were ongoing to establish the suspects’ involvement and identify other accomplices.
Meanwhile, the Kaduna State Government has provided three additional armoured personnel carriers to the police to strengthen security in the affected communities.
The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, has also ordered the deployment of additional tactical personnel, operational vehicles and other resources to improve surveillance, response time and crime prevention.
