A burial ceremony in Aleto, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State has turned tragic after a resident pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Deacon Steve Eyo, reportedly collapsed and died while preaching.
Eyo was delivering a sermon titled, “The Certainty of Death and Hope Beyond,” before more than 300 mourners when the incident occurred.
Reports say the pastor began preaching at about 1:10 p.m., urging the mourners to reflect on the uncertainty and brevity of life.
He reportedly illustrated his message by comparing life to a visit to the market, where some people leave earlier than others.
But about fifteen minutes into the sermon, Eyo suddenly collapsed while concluding his message.
He was given first aid and taken to a hospital in an ambulance hired for the burial, where he was reportedly pronounced dead.
The cause of death has not been officially disclosed.
