Benin Traditional Council says the fourteen days of fasting and prayer, which commenced on 14th to 27th of September, 2026 ended on Sunday.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Oba of Benin Osaigbovo Iguobaro explains that the revered Royal Father prayed for all those who participated in the fasting and prayer and those who did not.

According to the statement, on Tuesday, 29th of September, 2026, the new yam will be ushered into the palace.

The statement. says His Royal Majesty prayed that the new yam (Emorho) will be a blessing to the people of Edo State in particular and Nigeria in general.
