Members of Ute Community in Uhunmwonde Local Government Area of Edo State have appealed to the Edo State government, the Oba of Benin and other relevant authorities to intervene in a lingering leadership dispute that has reportedly heightened tensions in the community.

The dispute has been accompanied by allegations of assault, attacks, destruction of property and missing persons, all of which remain unverified. The former Okaghele, Ambassador Oriakhi Osayawe Billy, has denied the allegations.
