The African Action Congress, AAC, has reportedly approached President Bola Tinubu, seeking approval to inaugurate its presidential campaign council at Aso Villa, Abuja, on November eleventh, 2026.

The request, attributed to the party led by Omoyele Sowore, comes amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Reports indicate that the party is also seeking logistical support, including food, drinks and other arrangements for an estimated five thousand participants.

The request is said to be based on the argument that political parties should be treated fairly, particularly in the use of official government facilities.

However, the proposal raises questions about the use of the Presidential Villa, which serves as the seat of the nation’s executive arm, for activities associated with political campaigns.

While the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, is the party of the incumbent president, the AAC’s reported request places the spotlight on the principles of political neutrality, equal treatment and access to public facilities.

As political parties begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections, attention will be on the Presidency’s response to the request.
