The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has formally appealed the decision by the Confederation of African Football, CAF, to annul Edo Queens’ victory in the 2026 WAFU-B Women’s Champions League qualifying final.

The appeal, signed by the NFF Deputy General Secretary, Emmanuel Edem Ikpeme, challenges CAF’s ruling that the final against Ghanaian side Ampem Darkoa Ladies must resume from extra time, following a 2-2 draw after regulation time.

Edo Queens had won the encounter four-one on penalties on September fifth in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, to clinch the WAFU-B title and secure qualification for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.

However, CAF overturned the result after ruling that the match officials failed to enforce competition regulations requiring two 15-minute periods of extra time before a penalty shootout.

In its appeal, the NFF argued that Edo Queens should not be penalised for an error committed by match officials, insisting that CAF’s own investigation established that neither team was responsible for the breach.
