Lagos State has received twenty additional high-capacity Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, buses under the Federal Government’s Presidential Initiative on CNG and Electric Vehicles.
ROLL CAP…The buses were handed over to the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, LAMATA, as part of efforts to expand public transportation capacity and reduce the cost of commuting.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, said the buses would enable operators to move more passengers with fewer vehicles and potentially reduce waiting times on supported routes.
The Managing Director, Abimbola Akinajo, said the buses would be deployed on routes with identified capacity gaps, including the high-demand Ikorodu-TBS corridor.
The latest intervention brings Lagos’ CNG bus fleet to about 170, as the Federal Government expands cleaner and more affordable transportation nationwide.
