In Benin City, the atmosphere was relatively calm as the nation marked its 66th Independence Anniversary.

Unlike previous Independence celebrations, when recreation centers and public spaces like Kada Plaza and Ogba Zoo were often filled with families, youths, and children in a festive mood, this year’s celebration appeared noticeably subdued.
