Edo State Police Command has recorded another breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on kidnapping and violent crimes with the arrest of two suspected kidnappers in Iyamho, Etsako West Local Government Area.

In a statement released by the command’s public relations, ASP Eno Ikoedem, the suspects, identified as Sani Kabir, and Hamza Nuhu, were apprehended on the 27th of April, 2026, following credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in kidnapping activities around Iyamho, near Edo State University.

Operatives of the Iyamho Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, swiftly responded to the tip-off and arrested the suspects.

Items recovered from the suspects were two Dane guns, one live AK-47, two cutlasses, a police woven headgear, a hunter’s headlamp, four cans of gunpowder, assorted charms, and locally made bullets.

The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Monday Agbonika, has directed that the suspects be transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.

The police boss reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to rid the state of criminal elements, stressing that Edo State will not be a safe haven for kidnapper.
