The Delta State Police Command has intercepted a vehicle conveying military camouflage uniforms, boots and hats, as well as cartons of suspected Tramadol and other illicit drugs.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Edafe Bright, said the vehicle, a green Toyota Sienna with registration number KP 527 AAA, was intercepted along the Onitsha-Ondo Road on Friday, following credible intelligence.
The driver, 45-year-old Isaac Orji, was arrested, while the recovered items have been taken for investigation.
SP Edafe said the investigation would establish the source and destination of the consignment and identify other persons connected with it.
In a related development, operatives of the command’s Special Kidnapping Unit arrested six suspected kidnappers and cultists in Ika South and Aniocha North Local Government Areas, recovering four firearms, six live cartridges and other weapons.
The Commissioner of Police, Samuel Erale, says the command will sustain intelligence-led operations against kidnapping, cultism and the proliferation of illegal firearms across the state.
