The Senator representing Edo South Senatorial District Mr Nelda Imasuen has urged Journalists in Edo State, Nigeria, and the world at large

to continue to adapt to New Age changes by embracing innovative approaches to News , verifying sources, and leveraging on digital tools responsibly to continue to thrive and maintain public trust in a digital age.

Mr Nelda Imasuen gave the piece of Advice on the Occasion of the World Press Freedom Day.

The Senator who joined the global community in recognising and celebrating the vital role journalists and media professionals play in the dissemination of accurate, timely, and essential information remarked that the day serves as an important reminder of the sacrifices, resilience, and commitment of press professionals who continue to inform, educate, and hold power to account—often in the face of adversity.

He noted that Press freedom is the cornerstone of every thriving democracy as a free, fair, and independent press is not a luxury and reaffimed his unwavering support for the rights of journalists to work without fear, censorship, or undue interference while calling on government institutions, media owners, and civil society to work collaboratively in safeguarding these freedoms.
