Edo State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough in Ahor, Uhunmwonde Local Government Area, following weeks of communal unrest between Uselu and Ahor communities.
The crisis, which allegedly involved attacks and reprisals between the two communities, forced several residents to flee their homes over safety concerns.
A statement by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, says the Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, ordered the immediate deployment of tactical and intervention squads to the affected areas on February 18, 2026, following credible intelligence on the activities of criminal elements.
The combined security teams carried out an intelligence-led operation, combing identified flashpoints and hideouts within the community under the supervision of the Divisional Police Officer.
Police say the operation led to the arrest of four suspects and recovery of two AK-47 rifles and two magazines loaded with thirty-three rounds of live ammunition.
Preliminary investigations are ongoing, and the suspects are expected to be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police also assured residents of adequate security architecture to guarantee their safety and warned that the Command will not tolerate any form of violence or criminality in the state.
