The Benin Traditional Council says its attention has been drawn to reactions following its earlier press release on the alleged unauthorized visit by Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, popularly known as Peller, and his manager to the Palace of the Oba of Benin.

The Council, in a statement signed by its Secretary, Frank Irabor, clarified that the submission of a letter of request and the mere stamping of acknowledgment do not constitute approval, but are simply part of standard institutional protocols and administrative procedures.

The statement further explained that the receipt and stamping of any correspondence by the Council’s secretariat only serve as acknowledgment of receipt and do not imply approval by His Royal Majesty or the Benin Traditional Council.

It emphasized that in the absence of explicit authorization, no visit or activity is deemed sanctioned.

The Council also called on Peller and his manager to publicly state whether any formal written approval was granted to them, and whether their letter of request disclosed any intention to visit any of the Iloi (Queens).
