Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have killed 60 insurgents in a fierce overnight encounter in the Bita area of Borno State.
The Nigerian Army, in a statement, said the attack started when the insurgents assaulted troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade, noting that a land and air assault obliterated the terrorists.
Nigerian Air Force spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said combat aircraft carried out precision airstrikes on fleeing terrorists in Bita, Borno State, neutralising scores of insurgents in what he described as one of the most decisive blows against the group in recent times,” the statement read.
Air Commodore Ejodame said the operation, executed under the cover of darkness, represents a major leap in ongoing efforts to dismantle the operational capabilities of terrorist elements undermining national security in the North East.
The Nigerian Air Force also reassured Nigerians of its unwavering commitment to defending the nation’s territorial integrity and protecting law-abiding citizens, stating that necessary measures are being taken to ensure that terrorist elements have no safe haven anywhere within the country.
