A Benin socio-cultural group, Ogbakha-Edo, has kicked against a bill currently before the National Assembly seeking to pass into law to permanently make the Ooni of Ife and Sultan of Sokoto co-chairmen of the Nigeria Council of Traditional Rulers.
Efosa Uwangue reports that the socio-cultural group, which represents the Benin worldwide, says the bill should be dropped as they view it as a calculated attempt to downgrade the highly revered throne of the Benin Kingdom.
