Stakeholders in Edo State have urged the government and the Nigeria Police Force to ensure proper profiling, intelligence assessment, and strict adherence to due process before taking security actions, emphasizing that the protection and welfare of citizens remain the primary responsibility of governance.

The call follows a directive by Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, ordering the release of students of Ambrose Alli University who were arrested and arraigned by the police over their alleged involvement in the violent protest in Ekpoma.
