Seven kidnapped victims have been rescued unhurt by officials of the Edo State Police Command in a coordinated joint operation with the Nigerian Army and members of local vigilance groups in Ewohimi, Esan South-East Local Government Area of the State.
The Deputy Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, ASP Eno Ikoedem, in a statement, says the rescue followed the abduction of one Mr. William Omozokpia, and six others who were reportedly abducted while working on their farms in the Ikeken Forest on Saturday, 1st November 2025.
He said acting swiftly on the report lodged by the victim’s son, Enoch Omozokpia, the Divisional Police Officer of Ewohimi mobilized a tactical team that stormed the forest in a daring bush-combing operation, forcing the abductors to abandon their captives and flee.
The rescued victims were identified as Mr. William Akhabue, Mr. Innocent Ebarekor, Mrs. Rachel Ebarekor, Miss Efuah Ebarekor, Master Winner Ebarekor, Mr. William Omozokpia, and Mr. Lucky Igiese, popularly known as Bulala.
Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, while commending the professionalism and gallantry of the operatives, soldiers, and vigilantes involved in the operation, assured that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing kidnappers and bring them to justice.
