
A combined team of police personnel, hunters, and anti-cult volunteers have neutralised four suspected kidnappers in Abraka, Ethiope East Local Government Area, Delta State.
The Public Relations Officer, Delta State Police Command, SP, Edefe Bright, in a statement, said they recovered one AK-47 rifle with thirteen rounds of live ammunition, while other members of the gang escaped with gun injuries.
SP Edefe Bright said during preliminary investigation, one rescued kidnap victim identified one of the deceased suspects as leader of the gang that kidnapped him.
He said the notoriety of kidnappings has over the period traumatized Abraka residents, leading to protests that temporarily halted socio-economic life of the people.
The Police Public Relations Officer said the Delta State Police Commissioner, Olufemi Abaniwonda, has assured the residents of the state that the Command remains committed to deepening community engagement and sustaining the war against crimes across the state.
He commended the bravery of the officials who made the major breakthrough possible as the coordinated intelligence by the joint operation of police patrol team, local hunters, and members of anti-cult volunteers operatives who engaged the hoodlums in gun duel successfully neutralised four suspected kidnappers.
