The Edo State Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old man for the alleged murder of his 15-year-old son and the subsequent secret burial of the corpse within their family compound at Uhe Community, Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State.
In a statement released by the command’s public relations officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, operatives of the Command, acting on credible intelligence, led by the Divisional Police Officer, proceeded to the location where the information was confirmed on the 6th of December, 2025.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly assaulted his son with a stick on Friday, 5th December, 2025, at about 7:00 p.m., resulting in the boy’s death. The suspect was said to have subsequently dug a grave within the compound and buried the corpse.
The deceased’s grandmother, who is also the suspect’s mother, an 82-year-old woman residing in the same house, was said to have also provided useful information that aided the investigation.
Following due administrative procedures, the grave was exhumed, photographs were taken, and the stick allegedly used in committing the offence was recovered as an exhibit.
The Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, has ordered the transfer of the case to the Homicide Section of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for thorough investigation and prosecution.
