The Ondo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Akure has fixed June 4, 2025, for judgment on the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Agboola Ajayi, against the result of the November 16, 2024, governorship election.
The June 4 date for the delivery of the verdict was reached following the adoption of final written addresses by all parties.
The three-member tribunal is chaired by Justice Benson Ogubu.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the All Progressives Congress was declared the winner of the election, having secured victory in all eighteen local government areas of the state.
Dissatisfied with the outcome, Ajayi and the PDP approached the tribunal, alleging widespread irregularities and calling for the cancellation of the election result.
In addition to the PDP, other political parties, including the Social Democratic Party and the African Democratic Congress, also filed petitions before the tribunal, contesting the legitimacy of the poll.
