House of Reps. Suspends Legislative Activities to Mourn Late Lawmaker

In line with its tradition, the House of Representatives today suspended plenary and other legislative duties to honour the death of one of its members, Honourable Raphael Nomiye who passed on last Friday.

National Assembly correspondent Charity Marcus reports that lawmakers expressed sadness over the incident and prayed god to grant the family of the deceased the fortitude to bear the loss.

The speaker of the House of Representatives Honourable Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, at the beginning of plenary session announced the passing away of Honourable Raphael Nomiye whose sad event occurred on Friday, the 22nd, November 2013 due to heart failure.

Some lawmakers who spoke to ITV news after plenary, described the late lawmaker as a quiet and peaceful man, adding that he will be missed by the house, his family and his constituency.

All legislative duties were suspended for members to pay their last respect by signing the condolence register that was opened in honour of the late lawmaker.
