Over forty-three thousand, seven hundred eligible voters in Edo State, have been registered in the first quarter of the 2018 ongoing Continuous Voter Registration.
The Administrative Secretary, Independent National Electoral Commission, in Edo State, Lebari Nduh disclosed this in an exclusive interview with Amenze Obarisiagbon.
The 2010 Electoral Act as amended, mandates INEC to carry out nationwide Continuous Voters Registration on a quarterly basis.
The Administrative Secretary, Independent National Electoral Commission, in Edo State, Lebari Nduh said the first quarter, which began on the eighth of January, ended on the twenty-second of March.
He noted that over 23,000 males and 20,000 females were captured within the period.
Mr. Nduh called on those who are yet to register to do so in order to be eligible to vote in the upcoming 2019 general elections.
He added that the commission is working towards creating more registration centres to ease the stress for whoever is intending to register.
The Continuous Voter Registration is an exercise meant for the registration of citizens who turned 18 years of age after the last registration exercise and those who did not have the opportunity to register previously.
