A fire outbreak has razed parts of the Police Mobile Force Squadron 13 facility in Makurdi, Benue State.

The inferno, which broke out around 3:00 a.m., affected the armoury and the office of the squadron commander, triggering panic as ammunition exploded.

Firefighters battled the blaze for hours before bringing it under control. The cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed.

Police authorities say investigations are ongoing.
