The National Executive Council of Professional Transport Officers Association of Nigeria, PTOAN, has expelled Edo State Chairman of the Association, Comrade Michael Eriyo Enofe.

National President of the Professional Transport Officers Association of Nigeria, Professor Babalola Olumuyiwa Ezekiel in a statement said the expulsion of Comrade Michael Eriyo Enofe is as a result of alleged gross misconduct.

The Statement said following series of petitions from the Edo State Chapter Executive, accusing Comrade Michael Eriyo Enofe of corruption, lack of accountability, insubordination and inability to adhere to the rules and regulation of the union.

Professor Ezekiel said he made all entreaties including intention to visit Edo State for a peaceful resolution, however, Comrade Eriyo disrespected, claiming that the National Executive had no legal right to interfere in state affairs, a claim which contradicts the association’s constitution and organizational structure.

The Statement said a fact-finding mission, accompanied by members of the National Executive Council was dispatched to Benin and after hearing from both sides, unanimously resolved that Comrade Odion Umoru Odianose should serve as acting State Chairman, Comrade Oghomwen Ogbeide Ihama as acting Vice State Chairman and DG Admin in Edo state.

According to the statement, as a way to ensure peace and reward previous service, Michael Eriyo Enofe was reassigned to the position of National Public Relations Officer, PRO while Prince Kelvin Cyril Omorogbe was elevated to the National Deputy vice chairman South South & diaspora chairman. However, Comrade Michael Eriyo Enofe rejected the resolution and continued to cause disruption, mislead the public through media publication, undermining the authority of the National Executive.

It warned members of the public, government institutions, private organizations and stakeholders in the transport sector not to transact any business with Comrade Michael Eriyo Enofe as he is no longer a member of PTOAN and therefore not authorized to represent or act on behalf of the union in any capacity.

The Professional Transport Officers Association of Nigeria reiterates its commitment to partnering with the Edo State Government to promote professionalism, peace and progress in the state’s transport sector, thanking Governor Monday Okpebholo for his ongoing efforts toward development.
