The Accountant General of the Federation Ahmed Idris has been suspended from office without pay.
The Accountant General’s suspension is contained in a letter to him by the Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed.
The letter said the suspension became necessary to allow for proper and unhindered investigation into the allegations in line with Public Service Rules.
It cited the recent arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on allegations of diversion of funds and money laundering.
The suspension which takes effect from Wednesday Eighteenth May, 2022 also stated that during the period, the Accountant-General is not expected to be seen around his place of work or contact any official in the Office except for any disciplinary hearing that may be advised.
