The Managing Director of Independent Television and Radio, Engineer Elvis Obaseki has emerged as the Zonal Chairman, Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, South-South Zone following the expiration of the tenure of Mr. Frederick Fabor, General Manager of Bayelsa Television, as the Zonal Chairman of the South-South Zone (Zone F).

According to a statement by the Executive Secretary, Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, Doctor Yemisi Bamgbose, Engineer Elvis Obaseki submitted his expression of interest within the stipulated timeframe, which ended on May 17, 2025.

The statement explains that the Managing Director of Independent Television, Engineer Elvis Obaseki’s expression of interest, met the requirements as provided under Article 16 (K) of the BON Constitution and Article 1.7 of the Electoral Guidelines.

She said by virtue of the constitutional provisions, Engineer Obaseki emerged the incoming BON Chairman of the South-South Zone and will officially assume office on August 1st, 2025.

The statement thanked outgoing Zonal Chairman, Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria, South-South Zone, Mr. Frederick Fabor, for his commitment and valuable service to the zone during his tenure.

Doctor Yemisi Bamgbose congratulated Engineer Obaseki on his emergence and wished him a successful and impactful two-year tenure.

The BON Secretariat said he looks forward to working closely with the New Chairman of the South South Zone in the collective pursuit of excellence in the broadcast industry.
