Gunmen on Sunday attacked Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owaluwa, in Owo Local Government Area, Ondo State, killing scores of worshipers.
When ITV News crew visited the scene of the incident, it was observed that the gunmen used dynamites to blow up the altar while service was in progress.
Parts of the altar caved in as the gunmen shot many worshipers.
An eyewitness expressed shock over the attack and called on government and security agencies to beef up security in Owo.
Blood stains litter the floor as bodies were taken to the Federal medical centre and Saint Louis Catholic Hospital, Owo.
Efforts to speak to security heads and leaders of the Catholic Church was unsuccessful.
