The House of Igbinedion has released the programme of activities for the Eighty-eighth birthday celebration of the Patriarch of the House of Igbinedion and Honourary Romanian Consul to Edo and Delta States of Nigeria, His Excellency, Sir, Chief, Doctor Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion, the Esama of Benin.
A statement by the Chairman, Planning Committee, Senior Elder Ogbeide Uwumwonse this year’s event will take a different dimension as the Federal Ministry of Arts And Culture has approved that a National Dance Troupe Drawn from all the states of the Federation and Abuja, should perform in honour of the Esama of Benin during his Eighty-eighth birthday celebration
According to the statement, the birthday celebration will commence on the First of September, 2022 with open entertainment from 12 Noon to 7pm at his residence Number One to Thirteen, Okada Avenue GRA, Benin City.
On Day Two –Second September, 2022 will feature Special Senate Session is slated for 12 noon while Open Entertainment will commence from 12 Noon to 7pm at the same venue.
Special luncheon holds on Saturday, Third September, 2022 slated for Ipm oat Number One to Thirteen, Okada Avenue GRA, Benin City.
Fourth September, 2022 will herald the 88th birthday Special Intercessory Prayers for the House of Igbinedion by Family Intercessory Ministries led by its Vision Bearer, Evangelist Margaret Oghosa Agbonifo ( Iyeemohia and Chairperson, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigerian, Edo state.
The event will hold at the church auditorium, Upper Ekenwan Road by the slope, Benin City at Ten in the morning.
On Monday, 5th to Sunday 11th September, 2022 Federal Ministry of Arts and Culture special dance performance in honour of the Esama of Benin at 88 will feature the most outstanding cultural troupes from the 36 states of the federation including the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, take place at the Garden of Residence at Number One to Thirteen, Okada Avenue GRA, Benin City from 4pm to 7pm dail.
Dance performance schedule on Monday 5th September, 2022 are Alheri dance from Kaduna State, Waja dance troupe form Zamfara State, Jarawa dance from Plateau State, Akoto dance frm Osun State , Maiden dance from Ebonyi State and Bori dance troupe Yobe State.
Dance performance schedule on Tuesday 6th September, 2022 (4pm to 7pm) will feature Eyo dance from Lagos State, Sabada dance troupe from Kogi State, Aje dance from Ondo State, Koroso dance from Kano State Muninken, dance from Akwa Ibom State.
Wednesday 7th September, 2022 will witness dance performance by Edo royal dance from Edo State, Jalala dance from Taraba State, Hunter dance from Imo State, Sharo dance from Bauchi State, Apepe dance from Ogun State.
Dance performance slated for Thursday 8th September, 2022 are Swange dance from Benue State, Abriba. dance from Abia state, Mada dance from Nasarawa state, Owigiri dance from Rivers State, Maiki dance from Borno State.
According to the dance performance schedule, troupes to take their turns on Friday 9th September, 2022 are Ekombi dance from Cross River state, Fisheman dance from Ekiti state, Buki dance from Jigawa state, Ngorda dance from Gombe state, Buluma dance from Adamawa state.
Saturday 10th September, 2022 will feature dance performance by Sibobo dance from Niger state, Ogene dance from Enugu state, Bankaura dance from katsina state, Sakai Aiki dance from kebbi state, Furadanunu dance from Sokoto state while dance performance slated for Sunday 11th September, 2022 are Eke-Gene dance from Bayelsa state, Atilogwu dance from Anambra state, Niger- Delta dance from Delta state, Odundun dance from Kwara state, Bata dance –from Oyo state and Gbagyi dance from the Federal Capital Territory.
The 88th birthday lecture is slated for 6th September, 2022 at Igbinedion University main auditorium, Okada beginning at 9.00 a.m.
Open entertainment are scheduled for 7th, 8th and 9thSeptember, 2022 from 12.00 p.m. – 7.00 p.m.
Traditional Day holds on Saturday, 10th September, 2022 from 1pm.
While Sunday, 11th September, 2022 is birthday proper with early morning interdenominational service with the theme: Because He Lives.
Guest preacher is the President, Nigerian Baptist Convention, Reverend Doctor Israel Adelani Akanji and the venue is Number One to Thirteen, Okada Avenue GRA, Benin City beginning at 6am while birthday luncheon follows immediately after the service.
The birthday continues with a Cycling competition in honour of the Esama of Benin at 88 by Odighi Grammar School Old Students Association slated for 12th September, 2022.
Take off point is Number One to Thirteen, Okada Avenue GRA, Benin City and take off time-9.00 a.m.
Sunday, 17th September, 2022 will witness the dedication ceremony of Archangel Gabriel Catholic Church, Okada, single-handedly built and donated to the Catholic Archdiocese of Benin City – to be presided by His Grace, Most. Reverend Doctor Augustine Obiora Akubeze, Catholic Archbishop of Benin Metropolitan See.
Venue is Archangel Gabriel Catholic Church, Okada beginning at 10.00 a.m.
