Afrobeat singer and songwriter Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, popularly known as Kizz Daniel, has shared a personal and emotional story behind his song “Al-Jannah”.

In a recent interview, Kizz Daniel said the song is a tribute to his loved ones who have passed away, particularly his father, whom he described as his best friend.

Kizz Daniel’s father passed away on May 9th, 2015, just days after his 21st birthday.

The song, whose title “Al-Jannah” means “paradise”, was inspired by the various losses Kizz Daniel has experienced, including the death of his father, the loss of his son in 2021, the loss of his step-mum, and his wife’s loss of her mother in 2024.

He said he aimed to create a song that would honor all his loved ones, not just one person, and believes the word “friend” in the song captures the essence of his relationship with his father and others he has lost.
