The member representing Ovia Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Omosede Gabriella Igbinedion, has publicly distanced herself from recent protest activities carried out by one of her aides Mr. Lugard Iyenoma in Edo State.
In a statement released earlier today, the lawmaker clarified that Mr. Lugard Iyenoma, who has been staging protests across the state, is acting solely in his personal capacity and exercising his fundamental rights as a citizen.
She emphasized that although Mr. Iyenoma is known to be associated with her office, his actions were neither authorized nor endorsed by her. According to the statement, she has at no time directed, encouraged, or approved of the demonstrations.
The federal lawmaker reiterated her commitment to peaceful and lawful engagement in addressing the concerns of her constituents in Ovia North-East. She stressed that any actions taken outside this framework should not be linked to her office.
She also reaffirmed her loyalty to the All Progressives Congress, expressing respect for the party’s leadership at both the state and national levels, including the governor and key party structures.
The statement concluded with a call for the public to seek accurate information through official channels and to remain responsible in civic engagement.
Rt. Hon. Igbinedion says the disclaimer is necessary to prevent any misunderstanding regarding her position on the ongoing protests.
