The Lagos–Benin Expressway, a vital link connecting Nigeria’s commercial capital to the Midwest and Eastern regions, has been brought to a standstill following a major accident.
A trailer, reportedly loaded with goods, overturned at a bad spot near the infamous Okada Junction, completely blocking the Benin-bound section of the highway.
Pius Nsogho reports that the incident has triggered a gridlock with long lines of heavy-duty trucks and fuel tankers occupying both lanes, including oncoming traffic. Motorists and commuters are trapped in worsening conditions, with some stranded for hours.
