The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has ordered an immediate redeployment of security personnel, including the Camp Commandant who were on duty at the Government House on Friday, 11th July, 2025.
The development followed the controversial lockout of journalists and members of the All Progressives Congress from accessing the premises during the Supreme Court Victory celebrations.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo expressed regret over the incident, which he described as unacceptable and inconsistent with his leadership style.
He emphasized that he remains a people-focused and accessible leader who holds the media and his supporters in the highest regard.
The statement says the exclusion of invited guests and supporters was not only unauthorized but also in complete contradiction to the spirit of the celebration.
Governor Okpebholo, following the incident, constituted an investigative committee to identify those involved in the unfortunate incident and assured the public that anyone found culpable would face appropriate disciplinary action.
The statement also added that the Senator Monday Okpebholo-led administration would not tolerate acts that seek to ridicule or alienate the very people who stood by him.
