The Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of elder statesman and former Deputy Inspector General of Police, Parry Benjamin Osayande, CFR.
In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, Governor Okpebholo condoled with the Osayande family, the Benin Kingdom, and the people of Edo State on the loss of a distinguished son.
The Governor described late DIG Osayande as an icon of professionalism and patriotism who dedicated his life to the service of his community and the nation.
He praised Osayande’s courage, discipline, and commitment to justice, recalling his celebrated exploits as Commissioner of Police in the then Bendel State, where he dismantled high-profile criminal gangs of the 1980s — feats that remain a benchmark for police excellence.
Governor Okpebholo further noted his role as a reformer and intellectual voice within the Nigeria Police Force, whose influence went beyond operational duties.
He prayed God to grant the departed eternal rest and give his family, friends, and associates the strength to bear the great loss.
