Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has addressed the people following the end of the six-month emergency rule imposed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on March 18, 2024, amid a political crisis in the state.

Speaking from Government House, Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Governor acknowledged the challenges endured during the period and thanked President Tinubu for his intervention and the restoration of democratic governance. He confirmed that peace has been brokered among all key political actors, including former Governor Nyesom Wike and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, with a collective commitment to reconciliation and stability.

Governor Fubara assured citizens that the state government will now focus on resuming developmental projects and restoring normal governance.

He praised the people of Rivers State for their patience and resilience, and extended gratitude to political leaders, traditional rulers, religious groups, civil society, and the National Assembly for their roles in resolving the crisis.

Emphasizing unity and inclusive governance, the Governor called on all Rivers people to put aside differences and work together for peace, progress, and prosperity.
