Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday at a hospital in London.

In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, says Governor Fubara extended his sympathies to the late president’s family, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as well as the Government and people of Nigeria, describing the loss as a significant one for the nation.

Speaking on behalf of his family and the people of Rivers State, the Governor conveyed his condolences to President Tinubu, Buhari’s family and Nigerians at large, acknowledging the former president’s contributions to national development and leadership.

Governor Fubara described the late President Buhari as a leader of discipline, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of Nigeria.

He noted that Buhari’s years in office were marked by a strong focus on anti-corruption, national security, and infrastructure renewal, efforts that will remain part of his enduring legacy.

He pointed out that President Buhari left behind a legacy of service, sacrifice, and patriotism that will be remembered by generations to come.

The Rivers State Governor also reflected on Buhari’s impactful career, first as military Head of State between 1983 and 1985, and later as a democratically elected President from 2015 to 2023, highlighting his place in Nigeria’s political history as a leader who served with sincerity and purpose.
