The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared it will not sit idly by as Nigeria risks drifting into a one-party state.
The declaration comes as the party formally welcomed former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, into its fold in Kano.
Kano witnessed a major political gathering as Kwankwaso’s residence along Miller Road was taken over by supporters and members of the Kwankwasiyya Movement. Party leaders and loyalists turned out in large numbers to show solidarity, marking a significant moment in Nigeria’s political landscape.
Leading the delegation was the National Chairman of the ADC, Senator David Mark, joined by prominent political figures, including Rauf Aregbesola, Peter Obi, Aminu Tambuwal, Rotimi Amaechi, John Oyegun, and Emeka Ihedioha, all present to formally receive Kwankwaso into the party.
Speaking at the event, Senator Mark described Kwankwaso’s defection as a major boost for the ADC, emphasizing that it would strengthen the party’s national structure and political relevance. He reiterated that the ADC remains a strong opposition force, committed to preventing Nigeria from becoming a one-party state.
After receiving his membership card, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals and vision of the ADC.
