
A devastating fire on Sunday gutted a popular wood and timber market known as Kara Market in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, destroying shops and properties.
The fire, which began in the early hours of Sunday, resulted in the loss of goods and structures worth millions of Naira.
An eyewitness, a trader at the market Musa Bello, says the fire spread rapidly before firefighters arrived.
The cause of the fire remained unknown.
Fortunately, no lives were lost in the incident.
MEANWHILE, the Government of Kebbi State has expressed its sympathies to those affected.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, Abuzaid Yari, in a statement described the fire as an unfortunate incident.
He said the state government sympathizes deeply with the victims and prays that Allah replenishes their losses.
Yari also commended the state fire service for its timely response.
He added that the government remained committed to safeguarding the lives and property of its citizens.
