FIFA has rejected the Nigeria Football Federation’s petition regarding the eligibility of certain DR Congo players in the 2026 World Cup playoff in Rabat, Morocco, on November 16, 2025.
Following the ruling, NFF General Secretary Dr Mohammed Sanusi confirmed that the federation has already begun the process of appealing FIFA’s decision, citing concerns over alleged irregularities in the issuance of passports for DR Congo’s squad.
The playoff match ended 1-1 after extra time, with DR Congo winning in a sudden-death penalty shootout at the Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan Stadium.
