In a congratulatory message, the former Liberian president eulogised Sir, Chief, Doctor Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion as a towering figure in Africa’s modern history, a statesman and a living legend whose impact has resonated far beyond the borders of Nigeria.
Mr. George Weah stated that the immeasurable contributions of the celebrant to the African continent remains unmatched, from his historic humanitarian support during the Liberian Civil War, when the Esama of Benin made available his aircraft fleet under Okada Air to transport peacekeeping troops and humanitarian supplies, in view of the celebrant’s unwavering advocacy for freedom, justice, and pan-African unity.
The former Liberian president recalled the instrumental role of the Esama of Benin in the global movement for the emancipation of Nelson Mandela, as well as his pioneering vision in founding Nigeria’s first private university, Igbinedion University, Okada reflect a life lived with purpose and a heart committed to the upliftment of others.
Mr. Weah prayed God to continue to grant the Esama of Benin longevity, robust health and strength for fruitful service to humanity.
