The Elders’ Council of Igue-uwangue Community in Ovia North East Local Government Area, Edo State has issued a strong warning to the public against trespassing on its communal land.

In a statement by its solicitor, Barrister Charles Asemota, the Council cautioned estate agents, property managers, and members of the public to immediately stop entering, surveying, or conducting any form of transaction on land belonging to the community.

According to the Elders’ Council, the land is an ancestral inheritance, preserved exclusively for the people of Igue-uwangue Community and future generations.

They said the land has been used for farming and other communal purposes from time immemorial and is not for sale, lease, mortgage, transfer, or any form of alienation.

The Elders’ Council also announced the immediate removal of the self-acclaimed Okaighele, Ogbemudia Omede, and his cabinet, stating that they no longer have authority to represent the community or deal with its land.

The Council further warned that any individual or group engaging in land transactions within the area does so at their own risk, adding that the community will not be held responsible for any losses or damages arising from unauthorized dealings.
