The Edo State Independent Electoral Commission, EDSIEC, has announced the conduct of the 2025 Local Government By-Election across Nine Local Government Councils covering Forty-Nine Wards and One thousand Four hundred and Eighty-Five Polling Units on Saturday, twentieth of September 2025.

A statement personally signed by the Chairman of Edo State Independent Electoral Commission, EDSIEC, Sir Jonathan Aifuobhokhan says the conduct of the By-Election is in line with Section twenty-eight, sub section three of the Electoral Act 2022 and the Edo State Local Government Electoral Law 2012.

Sir Jonathan Aifuobhokhan in the statement says all registered Political Parties are required to collect Nomination Forms tagged A and A One, on behalf of their candidates at the Headquarters Of the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission, EDSIEC, located at Plot 116, Oko Ogba Airport Road, Benin City on Friday, Fifth of September and submit same on Tuesday, Ninth.

The EDSIEC Boss says from Monday, First September 2025, Political Parties are to conduct their Primaries including resolution of disputes arising from the exercise and observation of same by EDSIEC.

Sir Jonathan Aifuobhokhan said publication of personal particulars of candidates of Political Parties takes Place on Thursday, Eleventh of September 2025 in accordance with section twenty-nine, subsection three of the Electoral Act 2022 which provides for such exercise within Seven Days of the receipt of the Forms.

Sir Jonathan said campaign by Political Parties in public starts Friday, twelfth September 2025 and ends on Thursday, Eighteenth, while submission of names of Polling Agents for the Election to the Electoral Officer, EO, of the Local Government Area by the Political Parties ends on Monday, Fifteenth of September 2025.

EDSIEC Publishes Notice of Polls on Tuesday, Sixteenth of September 2025.
