The Government of Edo State has commended its team for emerging overall winners of the second edition of the Niger Delta Games, ending a 24-year wait for a major sporting honour with a commanding performance at home ground.

Deborah Ogbeifun reports that the Governor of Edo, Senator Monday Okpebholo, represented by the Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa gave the commendation at the closing ceremony of the NDDC Games at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City.
