Edo State Police Command has condemned the recent attack on one of its officers by a group of unruly individuals at Upper Sakponba in Benin City.
In a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Joel Yamu, no life was lost as mischievously reported on social media, as calm has been restored in the area.
However, investigations are underway to unravel the cause of the incident, identify and apprehend those involved in the incident.
The statement reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining peace, law, and order in communities and will not tolerate any form of assault on its personnel, as an attack on a police officer is an attack on the rule of law and the safety of all citizens.
The State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, urged parents, guardians, community leaders, and youth organisations to educate their children and wards on the importance of respecting law enforcement officials and cooperating with security agencies for the betterment of the society.
