The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, has urged Christians and Muslims in the state to use this year’s Lent and Ramadan seasons to foster peace, enhance security, and promote unity across the state.
Rt. Hon. Idahosa gave this advice while felicitating with the Muslim Ummah and Christians on the commencement of the holy seasons of Ramadan and Lent.
According to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Friday Aghedo, the Deputy Governor noted that Ramadan and Lent are significant periods in the Islamic and Christian faiths, marked by fasting, prayer, reflection, sacrifice, and renewed devotion to God.
He stated that these sacred observances offer profound opportunities for spiritual rejuvenation, self-discipline, charity, and compassion toward one another, especially the less privileged in society.
Rt. Hon. Idahosa commended both Muslim and Christian faithful for their steadfast commitment to the principles of peace, patience, and generosity that embody this period.
He urged them to continue praying for the progress, stability, and prosperity of Edo State and Nigeria at large.
He also acknowledged the solemnity of the Lenten season in the Christian calendar as a time of repentance, self-examination, and spiritual renewal leading up to Easter.
The Deputy Governor called on the people to use this period to promote unity, deepen interfaith understanding, and work collectively toward building a more just, secure, and prosperous state and nation.
He wished the Muslim Ummah a peaceful and rewarding Ramadan and prayed for a spiritually fulfilling Lenten season for all Christians.
