The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of five suspects in connection with a disturbing sexual assault incident in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area.
The arrests follow a viral video circulating on social media, which allegedly shows the assault and molestation of a young woman in Oramudu Quarters. Authorities identified the chief organizer of the act as Chief Omorede Sunday, who was apprehended alongside four others.
In a statement issued in Warri, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a grave violation of the victim’s fundamental rights and human dignity.
He disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Aina Adesola, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough probe. The directive includes identifying and prosecuting all individuals found culpable.
The police command is also calling on members of the public, especially witnesses and victims, to come forward with credible information to aid ongoing investigations. Authorities assure that all information provided will be treated with strict confidentiality and professionalism.
Residents of Delta State have been urged to remain calm, vigilant, and law-abiding, as the command reiterates its commitment to protecting lives, upholding citizens’ rights, and maintaining public order.
Commissioner Adesola reaffirmed that all those involved in the reprehensible act will be brought to justice in accordance with the law.
