The first bill proposes the creation of three new Local Government Areas—Ikpoba, Sokponba, and Okha—to be carved out from the existing Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of Edo State.

The initiative is designed to enhance administrative efficiency and ensure more equitable resource distribution across the region.

In a separate but equally significant move, another bill also sponsored by Murphy Omoruyi, seeks the establishment of a new Uselu Local Government Area, carved out of the current Egor Local Government Area.

Speaking on the bills, Murphy Omoruyi emphasized the importance of decentralizing governance to meet the rising needs of rapidly growing communities in Edo State.

Accordidng to him, this is a step forward in delivering more responsive leadership, promoting development, and empowering local administrations to serve the people better.
