Some concerned citizens of Obayantor Two community in Ikpoba Okha local government area of Edo state have called on the general public to disregard an announcement by the disbanded CDA of a purported verification exercise in the community.
In a statement written and signed by their counsel Olushola Iyokun for O.K Esechie & Company, said the need to cry out by the concerned citizens, which is made up of some elders from the community, became necessary following the insecurity level that has characterised the area for some time, which has led to several deaths.
The statement said the disbanded members of the CDA would have put the insecurity level of the community into cognisance instead of the verification exercise, thereby putting people’s lives at risk.
Citing the recent killings of some natives of Obayantor Two by criminal herdsmen and other criminal activities was enough to have put the verification exercise on hold, even though they backed it fully to its fullest, but questioned the timing as very wrong.
The concerned citizens, who include Elder Alfred Odighi, Pa Nicholas Iyagbon and Elder Sunday Enotuowan among others, said if the verification exercise is genuine and not an intent to take over people’s land, those behind it should jettison their plans and wait till Obayantor Two regains its peaceful status.
