In a bid to curtail the spate of kidnapping and other criminal activities, the Chairman, Akoko-Edo local government, Rt. Hon. Alabi Bliss Oshionogue, has imposed a curfew on Igarra, the administrative headquarters, from 9pm to 6am daily, beginning from January 21, 2026.
Rt. Hon. Alabi Bliss Oshionogue, while cautioning parents and wards concerning the recent kidnappings in Igarra, stated that criminal elements have left Sasaro-Igarra road, where they normally carry out their kidnapping activities, due to the ongoing construction of Igarra-Sasaro road, having noticed that it is no longer safe for them to carry out their criminal activities.
The Council Chairman advised that parents and guardians warn their children and wards because it is now operation sweep out criminals. He also mandated all the security agencies to ensure this criminal gang is flushed out of Igarra community without delay.
