Residents of Benin City have expressed widespread relief and support following the Edo State Government’s decisive ban on unauthorized revenue collection by various unions and associations, including NURTW, ANNEWAT, RTEAN, Drivers on Wheels, and Atalakpa.
The state government’s directive prohibits these groups from collecting any form of levies, dues, or charges from motorists, traders, and transport operators, amid growing concerns over harassment and extortion.
